They've convinced themselves that their dead hair & their "beauty" is above ours, in order to compensate for the deep sense of inferiority that dwells within the depths of themselves. You are beautiful, your hair is beautiful. I'm glad you know this. I don't have locs, but I wear my hair natural. I get the meanest looks and such. It's great to connect with sistahs who have broken out of the conditioning and rejected the Eurocentric ideal of beauty. She doesn't need to fit in to any group to be a beautiful, strong and successful young lady. My daughters are also multi-cultural, and I always let them know that they perfect as they are. For any child, of any race - there is no need for chemicals (to alter hair texture), fancy clothes or any other superfical things. They are amazing as they are.

KarenKarenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15358587477853108371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3021038164876668328.post-27461858167798761152009-09-27T13:00:55.542-07:002009-09-27T13:00:55.542-07:00I hope my daughter will have the same confidence w...I hope my daughter will have the same confidence when she grows up with her natural hair.
(mom of biracial girl)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3021038164876668328.post-67209715994272739762009-08-30T18:19:14.754-07:002009-08-30T18:19:14.754-07:00Thank you!!Thank you!!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15358587477853108371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3021038164876668328.post-25417881026630496612009-06-23T20:18:38.391-07:002009-06-23T20:18:38.391-07:00You know I think that they probably do think locs ...You know I think that they probably do think locs are weird because they are just as you say: Young and ignorant. All that they perceive as beautiful are images they see on TV in videos. They are still learning about life and the fact that you did not stoop down to their level speaks to them in so many different ways. As they grow older and hopefully wiser, they will see what idiots they were towards you.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03941832884322382614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3021038164876668328.post-8531760915560461242009-06-09T11:35:24.937-07:002009-06-09T11:35:24.937-07:00Well said!
