ReplyDeleteAs for the contest question, this is actually right on time, for me. I've been thinking about my life and what my purpose is/will be quite a lot, lately (perhaps I'm having a bit of a quarter-life/existential crisis). So, I apologize in advance for the length of this rant.
In all honesty, I don't think it would be honest for me to say that I can fully define what my purpose is, and what the word means specifically to my life. The revelation for me has been to be more open to exploring what my purpose might be, and to commit to being brave in the face of uncertainty.
In other words, for many years I thought I knew what I wanted to be and do, and I was continuously dissatisfied with myself for not being there yet. Over the past year, however, I have grown to accept myself for who and what I am today-- even though I'm still figuring that out. I'm comfortable with knowing there are still things left to be sorted, and I accept that my purpose isn't a certain job, or dress size, or some imagined life. My purpose isn't to live my life feeling like I can't wait for tomorrow, because that's when everything is going to fall into place. Instead, I can't wait for today.

ReplyDeletePURPOSE: a reason or responsibility of someonone or something to exist. I think everyone and everything has a one purpose or another if not many! Whether it is to teach, love, guide, or help.
Purpose to me means reason. We question why things happen to us (negative and bad) but we shouldn't question our experiences because they are a part of our reason which leads to our purpose in life.
