I've felt more confident about every aspect of my life since going natural! It was a huge step on the road to becoming myself.
ReplyDeleteThese accessories are gorgeous!
The journey itself, the ups and downs of learning to accept your natural texture and which products and methods work for you, is the best reason to go natural. As the journey progresses, you become a stronger, more accepting, and more aware woman.
ReplyDeleteGoing natural is just one step to becoming more familiar and comfortable with the organic you. it's a learning process all the way, a most beautiful journey.
ReplyDeleteOut of the many I can think of, I would choose to tell her that being a natural means that the harmful effects of the chemical relaxer will be no more. That is something that was dear to me, influencing my decision to become a naturalista. Maybe she might be like how I was, having adverse effects from the burns like serious hair breakage, thinning of my hair and intense itchy scalp right after the salon visit. I'd tell her that she would not have to worry about those things anymore, as the healing process would have begun, once the perms have stopped. She can even start to invest in products for her natural hair which do not use sulfates or the -bens, if she so desired. But I would definitely encourage her to move onto a new chapter of healing and growth away from chemicals by embracing her natural hair.
ReplyDeleteTo feel free. When I first did the BC over 3 years ago I felt SO amazing. I haven't looked back since.
ReplyDeleteOne word... FREE! When you become natural, you become FREE in the hair that God intended just for special/unique you! :) How awesome is that?!
ReplyDeleteShowing the world what I really am...naturally beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'd say pretty much Self confidence. can\t nobody tell you nothing!
ReplyDeleteBecause it's time!! ;)
ReplyDeleteCancer. Most woman don't know but the chemicals from perms and from most products has cancer causing agents and are very harsh. My mother in law had cancer twice and the doctors at first couldn't figure why. They finally came to the conclusion that the hair products she use which were perms, hair dyes, and many different products may have caused her cancer. She had a breast removed and part of her lung. Bless God she is here today and natural. She has been cancer free almost 10 years.

ReplyDeleteFor the freedom of not worrying about rain, or getting your hair wet, for the numerous fly hairstyles and last but not least, for getting rid of that burnt hair smell forever! : )

I could give you several reasons to go natural. Not only is it the healthiest option for your hair but it will save you money and you will see less of that salon. But for me I think that ultimate reason a person should go natural is that I believe there is nothing more beautiful than seeing black women gladly accepting who they really are and loving every bit of it. Let’s be honest here, God did not give us straight hair. We were all born with kinky hair, and God obviously thought it was more fitting that we have this type of hair, because it is beautiful. By going natural , you are showing God that you appreciate the hair that he gave you in the first place and that you KNOW it is beautiful regardless of what others might think or feel.
ReplyDeleteTo learn that 'F E A R' is really something in life that should not hold us back. Fear of acceptance, fear of will I still be beautiful, fear of not conforming to what society says is pretty or what's in. By the way, 'F E A R' is really false evidence appearing real!!! Just do it. You'll love the power you feel in learning to love your God given beauty! Peace
ReplyDeleteTo be an inspiration not only to yourself but to someone else. By them seeing a difference in you as a person you never know who you are inspiring just in the way you embrace yourself as a natural :)

ReplyDelete"Going natural gives you and the people around you the amazing experience of getting to know the real you and during that awkward transitioning period when you're might be afraid to go out of the house, you find out who's truely your friend and the ones there for your looks." - Ariel
A word of encouragement and one of MANY reasons to go natural would be the joy of learning to care for your hair and not having to depend on anyone to make your hair look good!
ReplyDeleteI made the decision to go natural about 5 years ago. Over the past years, I have had a chance to come to love myself the way that God made me, knowing that He makes no junk! I'm thankful to be in this place now that we are raising children. For both my son and daughter, I want them to know they are beautifully made!

ReplyDelete"Being natural mean unlocking inner and outer beauty." - Monique
To go ahead and do it because along the way you'll find your true beauty. The way GOD intended us to be - natural.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many reasons, but if I could only pick one, it would be to set an example for all of the little black girls and boys who have been told that their hair isn't beautiful and worthy of love. Though I often hear the contrary, it simply is not "just hair." And, while I don't have kids, I think it's so wonderful to instill the message that there is absolutely nothing wrong with our hair exactly the way it grows out of our heads at an early age. It is a cliché to call one's hair his or her "crown of glory," but it truly is a crown-- a symbol of respecting, accepting and loving oneself wholly, and gloriously.
ReplyDeleteTo have soft bouncy hair that is so versatile. You can pin it up for a professional look at work, take out the pins and rock an afro after work, put in some twists for the weekend, then take the twist out and you've got a great twist out for work on Monday.
ReplyDeleteFreedom! To be free of the chemicals, free of fear of rain, free of being held hostage to the salon and free to grow your hair the way God intended it to be.
ReplyDeleteTo allow your inner beauty to come out through your roots. Avoid server breakage and save your scalp from sores and scabs. No matter your hair pattern there is always a way to style and define yourself and look like the true woman that you are and who you will become. It takes patience, disappointments, and commitment.
