  1. I have learned to love my texture years ago by realizing my hair grows if I leave it alone and refusing to settle for straight hair and baldness. Now I am teaching my little ones to love their hair. And I do pretty much the same thing, style it, leave it alone for weeks and watch it do what God designed it to... grow!

  3. I learned to love my texture by embracing what I have on my head. I love myself so why not love all of me, natural and true!!

  4. I loved to learn the texture of my hair when I loved to learn myself. I struggled with the texture of my hair when I was younger because everyone told me it was "too thick" or "too this." It wasn't until I got older and learned to not care about the jaded view points on natural hair of other people and embrace my natural hair. When I accepted myself, it was easy to accept the hair on top of my head. Now I love my hair and its texture!

  5. I learned to love my texture when I learned to love my skin color. It might make no sense, but I didn't learn to love my hair until I accepted the fact that I may have been raised by a white Mom beacuse my dad left, but I was still very much part-African American. When I decided to go natural, I was scared I would look too "black", and I didn't want to look that way because I didn't want to look like my father. Eventually, as I started working with my hair more after I went natural, I would look in the mirror and feel beautiful. It was the first time I looked in the mirror and felt like I was ME -- who I was truly made to be. My hair texture became a part of me that I loved because it made me feel real. My personality could shine as it was meant to because I allowed my hair to be what it was made to be... natural.

  6. I've always embraced and accepted my natural hair texture for what it is regardless of what other have said or thought. Lately, I've been learning how to take better care of it and what it likes & dislikes.

  7. I have been natural for four years now, but decided to do another big chop for my birthday, this past April, a tapered cut hairstyle, which I adore. My hair texture is 4C, coily, with major shrinkage. I embraced my hair once I understood what hair texture I had, and what hair products that compliments it. But, what I love the most about my hair, is the versatility!

  8. I learned to love my texture through my aunt, a natural stylist. I've always looked up to her since she was the only other girl in my age range. She went through her natural journey and always posted photos, stories, and links of gorgeous women with amazing natural kinky hair. It made me stop straightening my hair and eventually, I just stopped. I never liked my curly hair, my "Chaka Khan hair" as my grandma would call it. I wanted to look like all the other girls with a perm, but through my aunt, I've learned to care for and love my gorgeous, fluffy curls.

  10. How have I learned to love my texture?? Karen girl I'm STILL learning! All my life I have had soo much confidence. But when I started transitioning I was embarrassed, so I tried to hide it. Even now, it bothers me sometimes.

However, I must say I'm falling in love with it more everyday because I STOPPED CARING what others think!! & also because there's so much natural hair inspiration online to encourage me now.

  11. Wearing two strand twists for the first time and having my beautician tell me I have extensive heat damage made me wanna cradle my strands lol. I had been straightening my hair since I was a kid-- it was all I knew! I didn't even know natural hair was a CHOICE! I would always hate when the right side of my head would frizz a day or so after. I'd sit there and hold a curling iron to that frizz for so long I'm surprised I'm not bald today!

After seeing other parts of my hair curl up into shiny little coils, I was in love! They were much cuter than my burnt straight strands. I didn't really have to learn to love my texture, it was love at first sight!

  12. Hi! I learned to love my natural hair by going for the big chop. After a week it just seemed to be a part of me and my personality. This is the way God made me so I figured, I ought to embrace it. : )

  13. Hello, I learned to love the texture of my hair from when I was protective styling and one day when I was conditioning I noticed my natural hair texture had changed. It was very curly and wavy so since then I learned to appreciate my hair. Being Natural for 4 years has really taught me alot about my hair, my daughters hair and the fact that I accomplished Hair goals. I've been looking for a product that will enhance my curls, I hope to win so I can tell other Hairsistas about my experience.
