  1. It’s tremendously important because so many girls and women have the preconceived notion that straight hair is the only way they will be viewed as beautiful. Growing up, I even thought that. Even though I am 21 now, I am so tempted to buy a bulk load of those dolls just to have in my house. Something I learned by viewing the website is that the dolls’ hair was originally straight before they were transformed into the styles their wearing now. I am surprised and impressed by that because I have no idea you could do that to a Barbie doll.

  2. As a psych major in college, I have studied the effects that popular images have on children. It's important to have dolls that look like children and women from all cultures because they identify with them, and it's about time they have an image to identify with that is similar to them. It exposes them to another form of beauty thus increasing their own self confidence and self esteem. Giving them a sense of pride is worth every penny.

  3. As I child, I cried when they didn't have anymore dolls that looked like me or looked like the women in their family. Every little girl needs at least one doll that can instill a sense of confidence and beauty in their looks. The rest of the world is JUST NOW starting to realize how beautiful our cocoa/caramel/jet black skin and kinky/curly/coily hair is. As grown women, we're starting to see our beauty. Well, I don't want my children to just realize that as women. I want my daughter to proclaim how gorgeous her black with a touch of blue skin is with a doll that has locks. I want my little caramel macchiato babies to be able to see themselves in a doll with a twist out.
Lol alright, I'm done with my rant. I do want my children to have dolls that they can see, along with my natural hair and confidence in my beauty, that our skin and natural hair, however we choose to rock it is beautiful.

  4. i think its important because all the caucasian dolls with the blue eyes and straight hair for little girls they will think thats the image that they think is beautiful to them so when thyey get older they will think that straightr hair is pretty when they get older they have lower self esteem and it brings them down also self esteem starts at a very young age so if they dont see a doll that they see that dosent look like them they would embrace would they already have but instead be upset

  5. Because i think it has an impact on racism and discrimination, it is important for the children to know that are people who look different, and that it is part of their heritage and culture. I've learned some beauty tips from this blog, i will come back ! Kisses
