I just always water down my shampoo before it hits my locs. I use an empty shampoo bottle and put the shampoo I want to use that time in it. Fill it with water to half or so, shake and then shampoo my hair. I think it reduces the build up of thick shampoo in my locs and they are cleaner because dirt sticks to shampoo residue.
