Natural Girls United supports Planned Parenthood 2017 Benefit

Natural Girls United  is happy to have been a sponsor and supporter of the 2017 Planned Parenthood's 13th annual Summer, Sex and Spirits Benefit. The event was also shared on Bust. My three dolls, along with donations from other companies, where sold during a silent auction to support  Planned Parenthood.

"Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) hosted its thirteenth annual benefit Summer, Sex & Spirits on Tuesday, June 27 at the Broad Street Ballroom! The event featured a VIP reception, silent auction, music and live entertainment, hors d'oeuvres, and an open bar. Summer, Sex & Spirits was produced entirely by PPNYC’s Activist Council Fundraising Committee, a dedicated group of volunteers. PPNYC provides health care and services to over 64,000 New Yorkers per year, and the benefit will help to provide resource to everyone and protect access to reproductive health and rights. The continued threats to PPNYC’s work and communities are real, and every act of resistance helps ensure that all people, no matter what, can access the health care they need."

Bead For Life

BeadforLife is a great organization that helps women in Uganda, by teaching them life skills that will help them to get jobs. In order to help the women in Uganda, BeadforLife sells Shea Butter Soap, Peppermint Lip Balm and more.

"BeadforLife, a non-profit organization, was founded by three American women to help the women of Uganda learn skills that would allow them to earn livable wages. BeadforLife began by teaching women to make beautiful beaded jewelry out of recycled paper. They launched a second income-generating project in northern Uganda in 2010, creating a livelihood for the extremely poor women who farm and gather Shea nuts. BeadforLife makes the Shea nuts into Shea butter products, including creams, soaps and lip balms.  The sales of these products have the potential to empower tens of thousands of women.  Currently, BeadforLife is working with 740 women, most of whom are farmers, to educate them about how to improve the quality of their farms and bring their agricultural goods to market." - BeadsforLife

If you would like to help this organization, you can purchase the items shown here at their online store, or you can volunteer to host a BeadParty. They will send you the beads, you host a party where you sell the jewelry, and the funds are returned to BeadforLife to benefit the women in Uganda. For more information about BeadParty's, go their their Q & A page.

Fab Party for Charity - Project Ahimsa

I went to a great party that was hosted to raise money for a charity called Project Ahimsa. It took place on Friday, September 24 in San Francisco. The theme was Bollywood Disco, and the charity is helping to raise money for underprivileged children in India that don't have music programs.   To learn more about the charity, please to go Project Ahimsa Org.

It was so much fun. There was a live band, a henna tattoo artist, amazing food, great music & people. We danced and had a blast. And best news of all, the fundraising goal for that night, was met for a great charity.

Project Sole - Charity Highlight

I don't know about you, but when my tennis shoes get to the point where the springy bounce is gone, and their not so pretty any more - I am ready to replace them. Once I buy new shoes, I often just toss my old shoes. That for me is the norm. But recently I read an article in people magazine about a man that decided to start donating his and other peoples used tennis shoes to under privileged children in other countries. What a great idea. Of course, if all things were possible, I am sure we would rather be giving these children new shoes. But for a child that has no shoes at all, something used is just as helpful. So I think that when I go to buy my next pair of new sneakers, I will check out some Project Sole as a source to recycle my old shoe.

From Project Sole:
"We are a shoe charity. We use your donations of athletic tennis shoes to supply durable footwear for others in underprivileged communities throughout the world and use proceeds to make financial contributions in our local community:
  • We offer financial support to charitable causes and organizations
  • We supplement educational expenses for local schools
  • We provide student scholarships"

Charity - Project Night Night

Project Night Night

I want to start highlighted charities that are giving back to the community. Project Night Night donates a bag filled with an adorable teddy bear, clothing or blanket and a book, to homeless and or less fortunate children. To donate or read more about them, go to Project Night Night. To find out what shelters they give to, go here.

"Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year, free of charge, to homeless children who need our childhood essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Each Night Night Package contains a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children's book, and a stuffed animal -- all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night reduces trauma and advances the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children we serve.

Every child who receives one of our Night Night Packages leaves the shelter owning a book which
encourages reading and family bonding, a security blanket which can be cuddled, and a stuffed animal which can become a cherished friend. We have one objective – to deliver our Night Night Packages to every homeless child in the country who needs one. Project Night Night is a tax exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. We work with over 10,000 volunteers each year, and we are the leading provider of nighttime comforts for homeless children."
