Six Flags Denied!!!

Sadly enough, my family as supported Six Flags by buying season passes two years in a row. But today, I read a post about Six Flags on a cool blog called Loc Rocker, that there is actual discrimination happening in the company against people with dreadlocks. Six Flags will not hire people with dreadloc's! I am appalled by this, and will not spend money with their park, until they have changed their policies. I plan to write a letter to them expressing my disappointment. And to let them know that this form or discrimination is unacceptable and they have lost a customer because of it. Check out the video below, that describes the incident that brought this news to light.

  1. Wow... I'm not very surprised at this for some reason. I live not too far from this park but haven't been in years....

Something similar happened with the DC police department where policemen with cornrows/dreads were being told to change their hairstyles...I"ll see if I can find the article. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Karen thanks for posting. I wrote about it on my blog as well. I think it is shameful and in addition to not taking my children to the park this summer I have written a letter. If they think my hair is too extreme to work there it is too extreme to pay their prices as well. Again thanks for spreading the word on this. Maybe they will change their ways if we all stick together.

  3. This is really crazy. I live in this general area, and didn't know about the six flags policy. Largo, MD is a predominantly African American community. The people in the community are the ones that spend their money every summer at six flags, but because of our choice of hairstyles (locs) we are banned from working there. Rediculous!

  4. I guess long flowing hair on men is not extreme. Or mowhawks apparently. But locs and shaved heads are extreme. I haven't been to Six Flags in a while and I'm definitely not motivated to go now, especially since Largo is my Six Flags.

  5. Hi! I'm actually Janet Bello inthe video and i thank you all for your support! Sadly alot of people, African Americans and Caucasians, are actually not in support for us standing up for our natural beauty SMH! I try not to let the nast comments get to me, but it does hurt a little :O( But i don't let it get me down too low, because in the end the truth will be told that this is not right; it is discrimination based on race: hair texture! So thanks again and spread the word!

  6. stop pulling the race cards!!!
I was denied employment at mickey D's for not shaving my goatee. Does that mean they discriminate against Hispanics?
Stop making this shit about JUST black people and include Hippies, the Hindu Shiva worshippers of India, and the Sufis of Pakistan which wear dreadlocks also...and
